Poh introduced it to us last year. At first, it felt almost sacrilegious after having eating fried wontons with tomato sauce all my life. But I have a rule, and that is try something at least once before offering up judgement. And so it was with this new concoction. After first taste, it was like “forget that tomato sauce rubbish!” Poh Ling Yeow’s recipe. Now a Yeow Family classic.
This stuff is amazing, not just with the wontons but also for ham and natural oysters. It’s so easy to make even I can do it! So here it is. Hopefully, there’s still time for you to try making a small experimental batch in time for your Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas day meal.
